ATBU Chairman visits MBU and MCU to extend official invitations

Bi-annual Preparatory Meeting at MBU

Bangkok, 13 Jan 2009. The Most Ven. Nyanissara generally known as Sitagu Sayadaw, Chairman of the International Sitagu Buddhist Academy and the Chairman of Association of Theravada Buddhist Universities (ATBU) visited Mahamakut Buddhist University (MBU), Bangkok to hold a meeting with the Rector of MBU and executive board of the MBU to consult about detail programme of the upcoming Bi-annual conference of ATBU and handed over an official invitation letter. MBU welcomed the Most Ven. Sayadaw and Ven. Dr. Dhammasami, ATBU Secretary at the main hall of the MBU by Most Ven. Phra Theppariyattivimol, Rector and other executive board of the MBU. At the meeting it is decided that the conference will be around 5-10 March 2009 at International Sitagu Buddhist Academy, Sagaing. The brief programme is as follows:

3rd March Arrive Yangon stays in hotel
4th March Fly to Mandalay and travel to Sagaing accommodate in Hotel in Mandalay
5th March Morning: Inauguration of pagoda at International Sitagu Buddhist Academy
Afternoon: Inauguration of ATBU bi-annual conference in the same hall and keynote speech follow by PowerPoint Presentations on
1. Sitagu Aayyarwaddy diary (Nargis) by Ashin Sagara
2. Sitagu Water Donation Project by Ashin Issariya
3. Sitagu Ayudana Hospital by Dr. Pannasihalankara
6-7 March (08-00-17.00) Paper presentations
7 March evening (20.00-21.30) ATBU Executive council meeting
6-8 March evening (19.00-20.00) Video Presentations from various countries/cultural programme/ special lecture
9 March morning (04.30) Title recipient monks are sent to Naypyidaw to receive titles.
Sitagu Sayadaw's Birthday donation of rice and robes for 1,000 monks and 1,000 nuns.
10 March tour to Bagan and stay overnight at hotel.
11 March to yangon and fly back home

Remarks: Photo exhibition will be around the convocation hall they are expecting Photos exhibition from various countries, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan, Korea, China, Myanmar etc.

The Most Ven. Sayadaw extended his invitation to bring more delegates and observers to the conference.

After MBU the Most Ven. Sayadaw went to visit the Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya (MCU) at his resident monastery, Wat Prayuravongsavas to extend the official invitation and confirm the details of the conference to the MCU Rector as well.

The Most Ven. Sayadaw was in Bangkok just for one day visit arriving in the morning and went back to Myanmar in early evening.
