For the ATBU second bi-annual conference, the ATBU secretariat has published most of articles and papers which are going to present during the conference into 2 books: the ATBU Journal & the ATBU Conference Volume. Also ATBU constitution is ready for distribution at the conference.

The ATBU has officially Registered in Thailand

After a long bureaucratic process with the government of Thailand, the ATBU is finally registered by the Office of the National Culture Commission of the government of Thailand. The Registration Certificate of the ATBU is No 2/2552 dated 5 February B.E. 2552.

Two Honorary Doctorate Degrees awarded for the ATBU Chairman

26, Oct 2008 — The Chairman of the ATBU has been awarded two honorary doctorate degrees in seven months, one from Mahamakut Buddhist University in Bangkok, Thailand and the other by Nalanda University, India.

Dear ATBU Member-Universities and Colleges,

The ATBU will be two years in coming March, so another bi-annual conference is due. This Second Bi-Annual Conference of the ATBU is going to be held in Sitagu International Buddhist Academy, Sagaing, Myanmar between 6 to 9th, March 2009 (not in December as intended earlier).

A new breed of monk rises in Myanmar

We have learned with Dhamma-samvega that the beloved mother of Venerable Dr. Khammai Dhammasami has passed away peacefully a few days ago. Venerable Dr. Khammai Dhammasami is the General-secretary of ATBU, IABU and Abbot of Oxford Buddha Vihara in UK. He has been flying in and out of Myanmar often in recent months in order to take care of his mother who has been sick for a while.
